Major Life Changes

Many life transitions, are extremely stressful and, at times, for whatever reason, we may be less resilient and may need a brief counseling intervention to help us feel like ourselves again.

In counseling terms we call this temporary state 'adjustment disorder'; Adjustment disorder is an emotional and/or behavioral excessive reaction to an identifiable life stressor that develops within 3 months of the onset of the stressor.

You may be surprised to find out that many pleasant life transitions are also significant stressors. Check out the Holmes-Rahe Stress inventory at www.stress.org/holmes-rahe-stress-inventory.

Society expects us to 'bounce back' quickly and we owe ourselves the kindness to allow ourselves to heal at our own pace.

International Relocations

Culture Shock is very common when individuals relocate, especially from other countries. Get help from someone that has directly experienced and researched the struggles of finding yourself immersed in another culture that may have diametrically opposing values from your own. Culture is like water for a fish and you become aware of it when it's no longer there.
